Cullen CM Helps Bring the Candy Hall of Fame Museum Experience to Life

In 2027, the Candy Hall of Fame Experience will open at 830 N. Michigan Avenue in Chicago. The 60,000-square-foot, multi-level destination will celebrate the history, innovation and people behind the candy industry. Chicago was selected as the permanent home, a fitting choice for a city with deep roots in American confectionery history. Cullen Construction Management is proud to serve as Owner’s Representative for the project.
For more than 50 years, the Candy Hall of Fame has recognized the people whose careers and contributions have helped shape the confectionery industry. Established in 1971 and administered by the National Confectionery Sales Association (NCSA), the Hall of Fame has celebrated generations of industry leaders. That legacy is taking on a new dimension.
Keeping a Big Vision on Track
Creating an immersive destination of this scale starts with an exciting concept. However, it requires disciplined oversight to keep the project aligned with the Owner’s vision, budget and schedule.
As Owner’s Representative, Cullen CM works alongside Jeff Rubin, CEO of the Candy Hall of Fame Experience, and the project team to provide the day-to-day oversight and coordination needed to move the project forward.
Our role is to help the Owner stay informed, identify challenges early and make decisions with a clear understanding of their impact on cost, schedule and execution.
Considerations include:
Monitoring the budget and identifying potential cost impacts early
Tracking the schedule and helping keep critical milestones on track
Coordinating project stakeholders to maintain alignment
Identifying risks and challenges before they become costly delays
Advocating for the Owner's goals throughout design and construction
Keeping the project focused on delivering the intended visitor experience
That can mean evaluating how a design decision may affect the budget, identifying potential schedule impacts before they become delays, coordinating the work of multiple project partners, or helping the Owner weigh alternatives when a challenge arises. On a highly experiential project, even seemingly small decisions from specialized finishes and technology to exhibit integration and building infrastructure can have implications for cost, timing and constructability.
Building on a Legacy
The Candy Hall of Fame Experience isn't simply a new attraction. It is the next chapter of a program that has recognized excellence in the confectionery industry since 1971.
Cullen CM is proud to play a role in helping bring that legacy to a permanent home in Chicago while providing the project leadership and oversight needed to keep a complex project on track, on budget and moving toward its 2027 opening.
